Available Positions: (with descriptions)Fundraising/Treasurer Chair
Organize creative fundraising events (such as Soup for the Soul) to raise money for the organization as well as causes including but not limited to AIDS and girls’ rescue centers. Assume treasurer roles. Grant Writer/Secretary Instrumental in getting funding for the clinic and future PHR community projects- apply for mini-grants. Record minutes at meetings and organize member directory. Public Awareness Chairperson Organize events to raise awareness Ex. Distribution of Declaration of Human Rights, discussion of articles/books surrounding issue of human rights (Half the Sky by Nicolas Kristof- women’s human rights) Advocacy Committee Physicians can play a larger role in the political arena by bringing health issues such as the Needle Exchange Program and Darfur to the attention of senators or lobby local elected officials Organize petition drives for issues including but not limited to the Needle Exchange program, organize student body to get involved in national, state, local government Webmaster/Newsletter/HHRE Coordinator Keep website up-to-date on meetings, events, etc. Produce newsletters on site discussing PHR events as well as current events locally and around the world related to human rights issues, Organize/teach HHRE. Volunteer coordinator Organize PHR community involvement- ESL classes at Wurzbach manor, collaborate with PA students on educational sessions at Wurzbach manor, Student-run clinic Historian Take photos of events, etc. Blogger Blog about upcoming speakers or events on PHR website |
